What’s The Big Idea with Dating and Marriage? Why Do It?

The Ugly Truth about Marriage and Dating

Did you know that 50% of marriages end in divorce? Or that 85%--I repeat 85%, of relationships end in failure? The kind of failure that results in chaos, and leads to an apocalypse. Fear not people! Over the years, of 2001 to 2011, the percentage of marriage has decreased from 8.2 married couples to 6.8 married couples out of 1,000 people. The divorce rates have also dropped from 4 married couples to 3.6 married couples out of 1000 people that will get divorced.

So you have been saved, since, obviously the rate has decreased in both. This shows that people are more cautious of who they marry and more open to staying single these days. Isn’t that wonderful? Now the apocalypse of your love life has been spared, or at least it was held off for a bit anyway.

With these statistics, you would think that the 44% of single people in America would have already stopped looking for relationships and stayed single. Do you believe that the 56% of couples are really the “lucky” ones? I suppose it all depends on your perspective. You decide! If you are one of the lucky ones, you must love it! It is as if your love life is perfect; similar to a Utopia.

Surprisingly, approximately 40 million people have a profile on an online dating site, and even though there are no statistics for how many couples form daily, it is probably equal to or less than the number of the relationships that end in break-ups. In fact, ask your friends how many of them are in relationship or just got out of a bad break up and are now single. See how these numbers add up.
